River Valley Alpacas is nestled within Tecker Ranch, along the beautiful Republican River Valley, in Southwest Nebraska. The Ranch has been the pride of the Tecker Family for five generations. Jon's Great Grandfather, Frank Tecker, purchased the land from it's homesteader in 1902. The original sod house built by the homesteader has been renovated and is now the Prairie Bell Bed & Breakfast, complete with Christy's sister, Monica Mercer, as Innkeeper. Jon's parents raised three children on the ranch and still reside there today, helping to keep everything running smoothly. Jon and I and our 3 children, Chelsea, Sye, and Paige live in our log home overlooking the valley with a beautiful view of the river and the farmyard. With approximately 8500 acres to manage, livestock to care for, and lots of community involvement, we keep very busy.

From the beginning, raising quality livestock was a priority and remains so today. Working with well over 100 years of combined experience in animal husbandry, we joined the family of alpaca breeders with a small, high quality herd. We strive to breed to some of the best bloodlines in the country to consistently improve our herd. The alpacas have been , by far, the most enjoyable livestock we have ever raised. We thoroughly enjoy meeting and working with other alpaca breeders, attending shows, and always learning through alpaca specific seminars. We will never now everything there is to know about alpacas and alpaca fiber but we are doing our best to stay on top of as much as we can. We look forward to sharing our ranch, and all that we have learned, with other breeders, and those interested in finding out more about alpacas. .
